Description

The Job Description for Principal is based on the Leader Assessment on Performance Standards (LAPS) component of the Georgia DOE Leader Keys Effectiveness System (LKES) which fully outlines the expectations of an effective school leader.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification in Educational Leadership issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission at the Specialist or Doctorate degree level.
  • Proven leadership with a minimum of three (3) years of administrative experience in a public school setting.

  • Skill in leveraging best practices and engaging all stakeholders in team-based improvement.
  • An understanding of the need for a systematic and systemic approach to school improvement.
  • A genuine commitment to the overall success of students.
  • The ability to assess the existing school culture to preserve successes and the ability to act as a change agent to promote continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills that reflect respect for students, teachers, parents and community members.                
  • Sensitivity to diversity and the ability to establish and maintain a respectful social climate.
  • Willingness to share governance with faculty, staff and students.
  • An understanding of and experience with the characteristics and needs of the middle grades learner.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum and methods for instruction and assessment.
  • The ability to lead the analysis of data to identify needs and implement action plans to improve student achievement.
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively develop a budget and manage school resources and processes.
  • Commitment to the safe, clean and orderly operation of facilities and events.
  • Desire to become involved in the community as the chief representative of the school.
  • The aptitude to participate as a strong administrative team member in the implementation of the system’s strategic plan.
